![]() ![]() While their group is scheduled to publish the full results of their nine-month UFO study this July, tomorrow's public hearing is shaping up to look more like a sprawling interagency task force. NASA has previously stated that they possess no current evidence that UAPs are extraterrestrial in origin, nor any hard evidence of alien life out in the universe.īut they have also stated that the limited state of the current data makes it difficult to draw scientific conclusions. 'They were not supposed to conduct new scientific study into the question, but just listen to witnesses that tell them what was reported in the past.' 'They were not supposed to do any research,' Loeb told the. 'The charter of this committee was to recommend to NASA whether research is warranted on this subject,' according to Harvard physicist Avi Loeb, founder of the extraterrestrial-hunting, UAP-studying Galileo Project. The term UAP is meant to broaden the search for the truth about UFOs, encompassing both mysterious objects or occurrences whether in the sky, underwater or in outer space. The study group, formed nearly a year ago in June 2022, has been mandated to explore both the feasibility and the wisdom of tasking NASA's own hardware and brainpower in the hunt for 'unidentified anomalous phenomena' (UAP). The mere existence of the agency's independent study team has added greater legitimacy to many unusual claims and events that had previously spent decades relegated to the fringes of scientific inquiry. NASA stated the relic was located "far northwest" of the mythical territory, but the finding will be featured on the History Channel's series "The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters" on November 22.NASA's independent UAP study group, as well as officials from both the Pentagon and Federal Aviation Administration's UAP investigative teams, will present their latest UFO findings NASA is now deciding how best to handle the relic "in a way that would appropriately commemorate the memory of the dead astronauts of the Challenger and the families who loved them." Don’t miss the premiere of The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters on Tuesday, November 22 at 10/9C. What they uncover off the coast of Florida, outside of the Triangle, marks the first discovery of wreckage from the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger in more than 25 years. There's a chance the crew survived the first catastrophe, but they definitely didn't survive the 200 mph fall into the water. Unfortunately as reported the O-ring seals on the rocket were compromised by the sudden drop in temperature, enabling the superheated, pressured gas to burn through and cause the failure. She beat out 11,000 other people to get the spot. Christa McAuliffe, a teacher who was 37 years old, was the first civilian to go to space. The teacher was going to teach her students from space, which is why the flight was called "the teacher flight" in the days before it took off. What was special about this is that NASA put a teacher on Challenger shows how ambitious its program was at the time. Students all throughout the world watched the incident live on television in their classes. The seven people on board were all killed by the malfunction: high school teacher Christa McAuliffe from New Hampshire, and astronauts Michael J. The Challenger lifted out from the Cape Canaveral space station on January 28, 1986, on a mission that would end in disaster only 73 seconds into the flight. “This discovery gives us an opportunity to pause once again, to uplift the legacies of the seven pioneers we lost, and to reflect on how this tragedy changed us.” Credits: Left(Bettmann Archive)Right(AP) via NYPost In a statement released on Thursday, the space agency said that the "artifact" was found by a film crew looking for planes from World War II off the east coast of Florida.īill Nelson, NASA's administrator, said in a statement that the loss of the seven courageous explorers onboard the Challenger will "forever be seared in the collective memory of our country," despite the passage of almost 37 years. Since they were near Florida's "space coast," which is where the mission took off, they contacted NASA. ![]() ![]() The History Channel released a short clip of the expedition, which showed two divers poking about the metal object on the seafloor near the Florida Space Coast. On Thursday, NASA said that a documentary crew for the History Channel had stumbled across "a big humanmade item" with "contemporary construction and presence of 8-inch square tiles" partly buried in the sand on the bottom. Divers off the east coast of Florida, looking for a plane from World War II, instead found a fragment of the space shuttle Challenger, which exploded live on television over 37 years ago. ![]()
